Labor Day (and the day before)

SUNDAY...
First of all, we had pancakes for breakfast, and then, Dad decided that it would be a good day to pickup the sticks that he cut down a month and a half ago (maybe more). We finished the meal and cleaned up the kitchen; I took a shower and got dressed. Dad went out to the office for an hour and a half, and then decides to fix our leaky faucets. We tore up the faucet in the process, so we decided to go to Home Depot to get new ones. While we we're there, my dad decided to check out the carpet. (Now, we're getting new carpet soon). Next, went to check out the toilets, none of them we're just right, so we skedaddled on across the street to Lowe’s. We ate lunch at the hot dog stand outside the store (Yum!).
There we got a new toilet for my parent’s bathroom. When we got home, we tried to put in one faucet but we could not because we didn’t have the right pipes. We also took out the old toilet. But we had to go to a party at our pool. On the way there, we got the right pipes from Home Depot.
When we got back (9:30ish EST) we put in the toilet (easier said than done) then went to bed.

MONDAY… (Labor Day and the last day of the pool)
We put the faucets in and got everything working right, then I mowed the grass.
Then we finally got to the sticks. We hauled all the branches to the back yard and started a fire. Then, we cut down almost a whole, dead, dogwood tree (we used to have 5, now we’re down to 3 1/5).
We cut it all up into logs and put it on our wood pile.
Then we went to the pool for the rest of the day. I did a lot of diving.

Well, that was my weekend. Ortho trip today
(My braces are malfunctioning).

Dr. Pepper

Ok, here we go. My deepest apologies that I have not blogged in a while. Anyways, the rest of the family reunion went well. We had fun. On the way back, we stopped at Tyson’s Corner at the mall there. It’s the biggest mall EVER! It had 3 StarBucks, a movie theater, a LEGO store (why we went), three food courts, complete with giant lamps, a Barnes and Nobles, LOTS of people, and on top of all of that… a whole lot more. Crazy, right?
I joined the Seahawks swim team. If you read other blogs, you know we are UNDEFEATED!!!!!! In our last meet, I got 3rd on the 50 free.
Speaking of swimming, Monday night I watched the 4 x 100 free relay. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!
I took a Digital Nature Photography class at NC State (go Wolfpack!) and I took some really cool pictures. (see below).

I got spacers Wednesday and I get braces next week, and on the way back we stopped at Chick-fil-a, and guess what we saw on the way there…

12 or 15 geese, just walking through the shopping center
And on top of all that, in September we head to the beach for our annual beach trip. Yay!
Also, Mitch is in his 2nd week of puppy Kindergarten.
BTW, here is another funny cat video that my aunt sent me: (P.S. turn up the sound)

anyways, steak dinner tonight, so, see ya'

Magnetic microwaves

Ah, at last vacation. Well, sort of. We’re at a family reunion in Maryland that only happens every 20 years or so. We had quite the adventure on the way here
First of all we got stuck behind a house moving fiasco for about 5 miles.
Then in Richmond we stopped to eat at a place called Dot’s Back Inn. It wasn’t the greatest place ever, it was very smoky from the deep fryers, we had to wait 35+ minutes of the food and, it was expensive.
It wasn’t real exciting until we got in the HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lane around D.C.
When you get on, you just can’t get off! So finally, after seeing the monuments, the capital dome, the Pentagon, and it’s VERY large parking lots in a fast 5 minute swoop, we got off and got going in the right direction.
Then after about an hour and a half, we got to the mountains of Maryland. I have figured that the main crop around these parts is corn. ( p.s. My mom forgot her camera, so don’t count on any pictures.) Later, we went to Denny’s to eat. They have the ‘Make Your Own Grand Slam’ deal; I got bacon, hash browns, pancakes, and eggs. Yum!
Welp, the actual family reunion is tomorrow, so I’ll blog more later.

Thunder & Lightning & Bacon Oh my!

Alas, it is raining again, this time in the form of a very loud thunderstorm. L

Our dog, Nancy, hates thunderstorms. So when a thunderstorm comes along, she takes the liberty of going in to my parents’ walk-in-closet, lying down and staying there until it’s all over.

Welp, on to other things…

I was just thinking about life and sitting in awe at the fact that every day (until you die that is) you wake up and are still breathing.

Right now, I am sitting in my bed, smelling bacon cook. If you’ve ever had bacon for dinner you will know how wonderful the smell is.

A couple of weeks ago I took my bass amp, put it under my bed, hooked it up to my iPod, sat on my bed and played the bassiest song I had. It sounded (or felt) really cool.

Now I will, on the spot, write a haiku about Lightning.

Lightning By Bassman560

Lightning, quite thrilling

Soundless, bright’ning up the sky

Striking quietly

On that note, I will now end this entry
